An RTI passport application lets any Indian citizen obtain information from the PSP Division or a Regional Passport Office under the RTI Act 2005, either in writing or online through the RTI Online portal. Pay the prescribed application and additional fees, keep the registration number safe, and use the contact tables above to reach the right CPIO or First Appellate Authority if you need to appeal. File your RTI passport application using the steps and the application format given above.
An RTI passport application is a request made under the Right to Information (RTI) Act 2005 asking the Passport Office for information it holds. Any Indian citizen can file one, either in writing or online. The request is addressed to the Chief Public Information Officer or the Public Information Officer concerned.
Any citizen of India can file an RTI passport application to seek information from the Passport Office. The applicant must declare that the information sought does not fall within the restrictions in Sections 8 and 9 of the RTI Act. The information should also relate to the office to which the request is addressed.
An RTI passport application is sent to the Chief Public Information Officer of the PSP Division, Ministry of External Affairs, or to the Public Information Officer of the concerned Regional Passport Office. The officer details are listed in the contact tables above. Choose the office that holds the information you need.
Yes, you can file an RTI passport application online on the RTI Online portal by selecting the Ministry of External Affairs from the department list. The portal generates a unique number on submission, which you should save for future reference. The application fee is also paid online on the same portal.
To file an RTI passport application online, open the RTI Online portal, choose 'Submit Request', accept the guidelines and select the Ministry of External Affairs. You then enter your details and request, indicate whether you are below the poverty line, and make the payment. The step-by-step section above explains the full sequence.
The RTI Online portal limits the text you can type for an RTI passport request. If your request is longer, you can upload it as a supporting document in the field provided on the portal.
Yes, a prescribed application fee applies to every RTI passport application unless the applicant is exempt as a BPL applicant. The current amount is listed in the RTI Application Fees section above.
For an online RTI passport application, you pay the fee on the RTI Online portal using the payment options shown there. For a written application at a Regional Passport Office, you can pay in cash or by demand draft, banker's cheque or Indian Postal Order in favour of the Passport Officer of that office. The instrument must be payable at the place where the office is located.
Yes, an additional fee applies to an RTI passport request when the information is supplied as copies, samples, inspection of records, a diskette or floppy, or print. The authority informs you when this fee is payable, and the applicable rates are listed in the fee section above.
No, an applicant who belongs to the BPL category does not pay the application fee for an RTI passport application, provided the required proof is submitted with it. A copy of the BPL or Antyodaya ration card should be attached, as shown in the application format above.
